Program Philosophy

“Each child is unique and the protagonist of his or her own growth. Children desire to acquire knowledge, have much capacity for curiosity and amazement, and yearn to create relationships with others and communicate. ” – Loris Malaguzzi

Red River Early Learning Centre is owned and operated by Natasha Kocher. Natasha is a dedicated and compassionate professional educator who is committed to supporting the children in her care by creating curriculum to encourage the growth and development of each unique child. Natasha works closely with students to create an engaging learning environment that is adaptive and responsive to each individual child’s needs and interests.

At Red River Early Learning Centre we firmly believe in playful learning; “It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them.” (Leo F. Buscaglia) We approach education in a holistic manner to support the development of the whole child, physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.

We believe each child has enormous potential that must be nurtured by providing inspiring materials and engaging opportunities to explore. Every child in our program is recognized as a capable and competent individual.

In order to ensure that our program is consistent with the Ministry of Education pedagogy and curriculum we utilize the following documents in the implementation of our program:

Red River Early Learning Centre implements a child centered and family oriented program. Our core goal is to build strong, collaborative, and supportive relationships with the families and children that we work with. Red River ELC seeks to promote a sense of belonging within our program for all families and children by developing cooperative relationships built on a foundation of mutual trust. Children and parents/guardians are warmly welcomed and accepted in our program, just as they are.

At Red River Early Learning Centre we strive to be actively involved in the community. We have participated in such important events as Giving Tuesday Waterloo Region and Family and Children’s Services Holiday Support Program. We believe that participation in positive efforts to support our community teaches young children that a person can make an important impact in the world no matter how small they are.

Our ongoing endeavour to build relationships with families, early childhood professionals, and our community is reflected in our positive outcomes for students and in our superb programming each and every day.
